Existing WordPress website redesign
Already have a website, but the design is dated, information is difficult to find on a phone or content is awkward to edit? I improve existing WordPress websites around specific needs. Before recommending a rebuild, I review the current structure and discuss what can be improved within the system you already have.
When is a website redesign useful?
A redesign may make sense when your services have changed, the text no longer reflects your business or visitors don’t know what to do next. Sometimes a few clearer service pages and better contact information are enough. Other sites need a new layout, easier navigation or technical changes.
- Information is scattered and key services are difficult to find.
- Content overflows on phones, or buttons and navigation are awkward to use.
- The form, links or other important features are not working.
- Editing content is difficult, or the site still contains features you no longer need.
First, decide what works and what needs preserving
We identify important pages, text, images, forms and existing integrations. If page addresses change, we agree a mapping between old and new URLs and the redirects required. Search or traffic data, if available, helps identify important pages. A design update alone is no reason to remove useful content.
Before agreed changes, we arrange an appropriate backup and discuss the working environment and launch. The backup components and recovery options need checking against the current hosting setup. For a live store, we also plan around orders being placed during the work.
What can the redesign include?
We can change the WordPress design, page structure, service presentation, content, contact form and agreed features. I also assess Elementor changes, bug fixes and speed optimisation tasks. Before committing to a result, I check whether a problem is related to the site, a plugin, an external service or hosting.
The price is based on the agreed work. The Start and Business packages for new websites do not automatically apply to every redesign. If the existing system prevents the features you need, I can also outline a new WordPress website as an option to compare.
From assessment to launch
- Send the website address, the problems you have noticed and the changes you want.
- I assess the current situation and clarify what information or access will be needed.
- We agree the tasks, price, content and launch process.
- I make the changes, we check the agreed pages and features, then discuss ongoing care.
Include specific page addresses with your enquiry and explain where visitors or administrators have difficulty. For example, tell me which step prevents an enquiry from being sent or which content has become hard to edit. This helps define a focused list of tasks.
Frequently asked questions
Does the whole website need rebuilding?
Not necessarily. If the structure and technical foundation still fit, we can improve specific areas. We decide after reviewing the site, based on your goal and the scope of the changes.
Do you only work with WordPress?
WordPress is my main focus. If your site uses another system, I first assess the situation and possible migration. I don’t promise work on an unfamiliar platform before checking it.
How is a redesign different from maintenance?
A redesign project changes an agreed design, structure or set of features. WordPress maintenance covers ongoing technical work and checks under a separate agreement.
Send your website address and a list of changes. We’ll start with the site’s actual current situation.
